Module 1 Contractor Licensing Exams

In order to complete this assignment, I visited the ICC credentialing page https://www.iccsafe.org/credentialing/. On the page were links to the: Exam Catalog, Certified Professionals, Maintain/ Renew Certification, and FAQs. When you click on the Exam Catalog link , it takes you to a page that lets you search a bunch of different exams you can take, even international certifications. The Certified Professionals link lets you search for individuals that are certified by the ICC. You can update your credentials with the Maintain/Renew Certification link, finally the FAQ link gives you frequently asked questions on PRONTO, CEUs and other important information. What I found interesting was the PRONTO online proctored exam which will make testing more convenient and efficient. Also on the page are some YouTube videos that give you info about what to do before the exam, on exam day and after you take the exam.

I then visited the Allen County Building Department website. On the site there is a YouTube video that takes you through the process of applying for a building permit. One thing I found is that a residential homeowner has to submit an application in person whereas a contractor can submit an application online.

On the ICC page there is a course catalog that lists over 150 courses that you can take from the ICC. Alot of these courses are available so you can keep on your continuing education to maintain your credentials. For instance, the 2024 IBC Significant Nonstructural Changes Course caters to building officials, fire officials, plans examiners, inspectors and design professionals. The Electrical Inspection Basics Course is appropriate for electrical installers and inspectors.
